51-year old Eurasian but I identify as Chinese as I speak Mandarin Chinese. I currently reside in Melbourne and work as a Social worker supporting LGBTIQ people in Melbourne with substance use issues. I have been with my partner for over 25 years but married together for just under 18 months. The focus of LGBTQ Aged Care is important to us as we reach that age and see other LGBTQ people struggle with safety and acceptance in some aged care facilities.

“ A fear for me is: growing older, you have less support, fewer social networks. That's the fear that I have. I like reaching out to some of the older people to make sure that there's someone there. I'm lucky that my partner's family are also close with us. He's from a very large family. "​

The future doesn't look good, but we're still

​“ My fear is not being able to go out and do what I want to do, to have that freedom. It relates to mobility issues, not having the health, not having the access, not having the freedom to go out and travel. I'm living when I can now because I can. ”
